Three ways we wear ours – the chino

April 20, 2018

Ah, the classic chino. There are so many reasons to love a great pair of chinos. They’re versatile, comfortable and so easy to dress up and down. We’ve worked really hard on our chinos to get them just right. From improving the fit to using supersoft cottons — and not forgetting the rollable hems — they’re the perfect go-to trousers to take you from spring into summer. We’ve got loads of great styles for you to discover, but we wanted to show you how our crew wear theirs, using their own clothes from their own wardrobe. This lot were more than up for the challenge — check out what they wore…

Mollie, who wears the Lulworth Chino Crops in a stripe three different ways

“I’m always drawn to a jazzy trouser so I love the idea of having a classic crop in a stripe. I also love the fact that these are made from 100% organic cotton and feel so nice to wear. My first look with the trilby is one of my favourite styles for on holiday. I always have a pretty white top in my suitcase so this layers nicely with the blue stripe on the crops. I love a simple graphic sweat worn with a crop, so my second outfit works really well for everyday and going to the beach. I also wear these chinos for summer evenings with my friends. I love a crisp, white oversized shirt that I can smarten up with these chinos crops, some heels and big jewellery.”

Seb, wearing the Modern Coastal Chinos in Air Force with three different outfits

“These chinos are a great alternative to navy without being too bright — I’m not quite brave enough to pull off an orange or bright green pair! But they’re super good quality and made from thick cotton, so I found them to be really comfortable. And I like that you can roll the hems up and down, which I’ve done with my trainers. I chose desert boots and a long sleeve polo shirt for my first look as it’s an easy option. It’s also ideal when you’ve got no ironed shirt in your wardrobe. The second outfit is my relaxed look. White trainers make the outfit, but an open check shirt adds to the overall look. Outfit three is my smarter option. A white shirt is always a winner. It’s smart enough for an important meeting if you have to dress up but a suit is too much. But I think it also works down the pub too!

Emily

Buying expert with an eye for the perfect fit.
Loves travelling and visiting new countries.

Emily, wearing our Lulworth Chino Crops in Dusty Cedar

“I chose these chinos as the colour is perfect for summer and I found them really easy to dress for different occasions. We’ve done a lot of work to these chinos over the years, making sure the fit and fabric is perfect, so they’re super flattering and comfortable. My first pick is great for everyday. I like being casual, so I just stick on my trainers and it’s an easy go-to outfit. Outfit two is slightly dressier, and shows how adaptable these crops really are — they can be worn in the evening as well as the daytime. And my chinos paired with a white blouse is a holiday outfit for wandering around in the sunshine. Bring on warmer days!”

Kalsi

Head of all things creative.
Likes to cover himself in tattoos. Also spends longer on his hair than his wife.

Kalsi wearing the Bramley Chinos in Smoke Grey, which are in our Copper and Black range

“I like these chinos as they have a modern cut. The material is also really soft and lighter feeling (as is the colour), which is great as the sun is finally shining! I wear these chinos with a denim shirt in the office, before heading straight out to a bar for a few sun downers. My personal style is to always wear my chinos rolled up high, with or without socks. I’ve also tried a modern take on a classic worker style. An oil washed worker jacket (with embroidered vintage patches), over dyed marl tee and my chinos. I like this look now, but will love it after a few more wears and washes. You don’t find many pristine clothes in my wardrobe. '50 shades of blue’ is how you’d describe my style on most days, so I broke up the usual blues with the chinos. This was my favourite look of the three.”

Ellen

Our super stylist who makes everyone look great.
Mum of two, who loves shopping in vintage stores and a crisp, dry sauvignon blanc.

Our stylist Ellen, wearing the St Ives Chinos three ways. She chose the colour Pebble

“These chinos are a classic and really versatile – especially in the pebble colour as they go well with loads of different outfits. I pretty much look at them as ‘the jean of the summertime’ as they’re a bit ‘too easy to live in! The outfits I chose show how I dress them up and down… from a day at the beach to a big night OUT out! But I’m most likely to wear them in the office with my favourite FatFace denim shirt and a pair of kicks.”
