Meet @curves.and.campervans
November 13, 2020
Meet Abee, aka @curves.and.campervans. Cornwall resident, campervan lover and super stylish FatFace fan, Abee Hague is the star of our latest photoshoot at FatFace HQ.
Accompanied by Fanny, her beloved campervan (Fanny was born in 1988, same year as FatFace!), Abee loves grabbing life by the horns and exploring new places whilst looking great.
We recently had a great time shooting snaps while chatting clothes, road trips and why the sun always shines in Abee’s world, so here’s what happened when we sat down with her…
P.S. We did this interview before lockdown 2.0 was announced, so please excuse any mention of pubs etc. (hopefully we’ll be back there soon!).HI ABEE, IT’S GREAT TO CATCH UP. SO FIRSTLY, WHAT DOES A WINTER WARDROBE MEAN TO YOU?
“Feeling cosy in soft, squidgy loungewear, soft natural fabrics, layering, statement coats, autumnal walks, thick snuggly tights, coffee dates, leather boots, festive sparkly dresses, cute Christmassy headbands, bonfire night, Christmassy candles, warm autumnal shades, like cinnamon and mustard.”HOW WOULD YOU DEFINE YOUR WINTER STYLE?
“In the past, I have often packed away my summer wardrobe with sadness, bundled it into vacuum bags under the bed and wished it well until the following year. This year, I’m mostly excited about two things: Firstly, summer dresses! I am absolutely loving this year’s trend of beautiful long maxis and midis, which can continue being styled throughout the winter with a pair of thick snuggly tights, winter boots and a cosy coat. It has been a seamless transition into autumn and I’m loving reworking summer outfits into cosy winterwear. Secondly, the obvious return of those long-lived winter boots, which complete every outfit with a matching leather bag. I always think though, it’s pretty much a rite of passage to invest in a new winter coat. It would be rude not to though really, wouldn’t it?”WHAT OCCASIONS ARE YOU DRESSING FOR THIS WINTER?
“Thanks to our good old friend, Mr. Covid, I don’t think there are going to be quite as many opportunities to get glam this winter. Though, this will not stop me investing in some gorgeous, sparkly winterwear, which I’m sure will make an appearance in the festive period. Mainly, I will be looking forward to days out in ‘Fanny the Van.’ I love nothing more than to take off for the day and park up by the sea to have a blustery winter walk followed by tea and biccies in the van – and probably polished off with a mulled wine in the pub!”WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT EACH OF THE PIECES YOU WORE AS PART OF OUR SHOOT?
“Oh, my goodness, I absolutely fell in love with the FatFace Winter 2020 pieces that I got to try and photograph at FatFace HQ. You guys reading this are all in for a treat this year! The beautiful boho style dresses were OBVIOUSLY my favourites to wear. Such beautiful materials and patterns – the Bonnie Midi being my absolute favourite.
The loungewear that I sampled literally had to be prised off me,
as I completely fell in love with the softness and quality of the pieces. Those jeans were the comfiest that I’ve ever worn.
And let’s not forget the headbands to die for in cute colours and patterns and a mixture of other beautiful tops and gorgeous winter boots.”
HOW DID YOU GET INTO INSTAGRAM?
“I have always loved using Instagram as a chronological picture diary. It started off with days out in the camper, amazing days at the beach and it gave me a place where I enjoyed sharing everyday life and fashion tips with a few followers and friends. Over time, my following began to grow and it was a complete joy to share my journey of being a bigger ‘Cornish lass’ with so many people who began to find my content relatable. As I continued over time to celebrate being a bigger girl, with a love for fashion and the great outdoors, I gained so many wonderful followers and friends online. Who knew that posting a picture of yourself at the beach with a few lumps and bumps, happy and confident could inspire so many women?
This inspired me more to be an example to women to love themselves, feel confident in their own skin, get outdoors and to inspire this confidence through clothes and positive mentality.
I’ve always wanted my Instagram to be a positive, happy place where followers feel inspired to be the happiest versions of themselves.
I receive so many wonderful messages from women who tell me that after following me through the summer, that they put on their swimming cozzie at the beach and strutted their stuff for the first time in years.
They tag me in pictures of themselves in BEAUTIFUL dresses that they have seen me wearing and say they feel a million dollars!
Honestly, it is the biggest gift to know that you have a positive effect on other people’s happiness.
Thank you to those women as they continue to inspire me too! Everyone deserves to feel FABULOUS!”
