Behind the scenes on location

Ever wondered what went on behind the scenes at a FatFace photoshoot? Well you’re in luck, as we’re about to reveal all!

FatFace photoshoot on the beach

Life’s a beach

For our first photoshoot adventure of the year, we wanted to keep things simple, so went on the search for a beach location local to the South Coast that would really allow us to enjoy the outdoors, but feel super cosy inside too. And we found it, in the form of Land’s End Cottage in Selsey, West Sussex.

A charming beach house with a relaxed vibe and fresh coastal theme throughout; it’s literally a stone’s throw from the beach. Just check out those perfect views of the Solent.

Behind the scenes

Our models Ben, Tessa, Marijke and Jip are genuine friends, which made for a fun day of eating, drinking and laughter. We do have a confession to make — the beer props were real…

Speaking of our models, Marijke and Jip have been an actual, real-life couple for nine years! We think that’s pretty good going, and they bring with them a genuine sense of love and affection that is so obvious in our photos.

Little Lailee used Moana as her inspiration when sailing the wooden pirate ship in the garden. It’s made from an original crabbing boat that’s been sunk into the ground to make it feel like it’s surrounded by the sea. And it even comes complete with a huge ship’s wheel.

Nick from Wittering Surf, who keeps us all fed and watered at FatFace HQ, provided the food on the day. He brought with him some amazing homemade flapjacks, which were loved by all the team. If you’re ever in the area be sure to drop him a visit. The food’s good. Seriously good. Oh, and being as stubbornly British as we are, we had to have lunch on the deck outside — even though it was a little chilly…

But the star of the show was Bubba the Cavapoo. He’s fluffy, soft, super cute and the friendliest thing you’ll ever meet. He belongs to Tessa, one of our models, and he’s been a regular in the studio at FatFace HQ for a little while now. This was his first on-location shoot. It was also his first time at the beach, and he absolutely loved it!
