RESPONSIBLE MATERIALS

Read on below to find out why these materials are better than conventional alternatives

CARING ABOUT COTTON

100% of the cotton we source is from more responsible sources.*

We define this by sourcing mass-balanced Better Cotton, organically grown cotton and recycled cotton for all our cotton products. FatFace is certified to the Organic Content Standard (OCS), the Global Recycled Standard (GRS), Recycled Content Standard (RCS), and is a proud member of Better Cotton.

ORGANIC COTTON

The production of organic cotton sustains the
health of soils, ecosystems, and people by using
natural processes rather than artificial inputs. We
use the Organic Content Standard (OCS) which
verifies organically grown material and tracks it
from source to final product.

FatFace is committed to sourcing 100% of our Organic
product from OCS certified sources.

BETTER COTTON

FatFace are committed to improving cotton farming practices globally with Better Cotton. Better Cotton’s mission is to help
cotton communities survive and thrive, while protecting and restoring the environment.

We have been a proud member of the Better Cotton Initiative since 2016.

Better Cotton is sourced via a chain of custody model called mass balance. This means that Better Cotton is not physically
traceable to end product, however, Better Cotton Farmers benefit from the demand for Better Cotton in equivalent volumes to those we ‘source’.

As well as mass balanced Better Cotton, FatFace, has committed to Traceable Better Cotton which will trace the cotton back to the country of origin. We aim to trail this on an upcoming collection.

WOOD YOU BELIEVE IT

We use TENCEL™ and LENZING™ ECOVERO™ fibres which are trademarks of Lenzing AG. These fibres are made from wood, a natural and renewable raw material consciously sourced from responsibly managed forests. This wood is sourced and purposefully balanced with forest growth rates, to ensure the continued availability of this valuable resource.

LENZING ECOVERO

LENZING™ ECOVERO™ fibres are made from wood, a natural and renewable raw material carefully sourced from responsibly managed forests. The wood taken from nature is purposefully balanced with forest growth rates, to ensure the continued availability of this valuable resource.

The responsible production of LENZING™ ECOVERO™ fibres uses at least 50% less water and emits at least 50% less CO2 compared to generic viscose fibres, according to Higg MSI^, thereby saving precious resources for future generations.

^Results based on LCA standards (ISO 14040/44) and available via Higg MSI (Version 3.7)

TENCEL MODAL

TENCEL™ Modal fibres are made from wood, a natural and renewable raw material carefully sourced from responsibly managed forests.

The wood taken from nature is purposefully balanced with forest growth rates, to ensure the continued availability of this valuable resource.

The natural structure of TENCEL™ fibres allows the absorption and release of moisture. These effective moisture controlling properties support a drier microclimate on the skin, resulting in increased thermal comfort.
Published studies confirm the excellent moisture buffering capabilities of TENCEL™ fibres, promoting thermoregulation under various climate conditions.

TENCEL™ Modal fibers help to retain the softness of fabrics even after repeated washing.
