A green tariff for renewable electricity for the sites that we manage has been procured since 2021 and, while it is more expensive, we believe that this is a price worth paying. Every unit of renewable energy purchased comes with its own Renewable Energy Guarantee of Origin (REGO) certificate. This means that there are little associated greenhouse gas emissions from our own electricity usage.
However, we realise that there is much more to do here. Most of the emissions occur outside of our own scope 1 and 2, in our supply chain and we are working to map and quantify these scope 3 emissions associated with our business.

Our main usage of energy is in lighting our stores. Since 2023 we have been converting the store lighting to a more efficient, energy-saving LED solution. It is our aim to have all of our stores transitioned to LED’s by the end of 2025.
How much waste we generate and how it is disposed is regularly measured and monitored, with the intention of limiting how much ends up in landfill. In 2024 we recycled more than 50% of our waste, with most of the balance being used to generate renewable energy. Only 2% was disposed to landfill.
