FatFace x Marine Conservation Society

May 30, 2023

This summer, we launch another new and exciting collaboration with the Marine Conservation Society, to raise awareness of the importance of protecting the UK’s seas and coasts.

Founded in 1983, the Marine Conservation Society is an inspiring charity fighting for a cleaner ocean that we can all enjoy. It stands up for our seas through incredible initiatives and people-powered action, working closely with communities, businesses, and governments to defend habitats and species that urgently need our help.

Take me to the beach

With so many beautiful beaches across the UK, we always check the beach guide before planning our seaside adventures. Whether you're looking for cobbled beaches, dog-friendly destinations, rockpools, or top surfing locations, they have it covered... so, which one to visit first?

Seaside memories

It will come as no surprise that the beach is close to our hearts, and like most, we all have fond memories of spending time by the sea with our friends and family. That’s why we asked our lovely crew to share some of their beachy moments – from summer get-togethers to saying ‘I do’, here are a few of our favourites...

Protect where we play.

And join in

Now’s the perfect time to help keep our beautiful beaches clean and protect our oceans from plastic by taking part in an organised beach clean with the Marine Conservation Society... or why not round up your friends and family, and spend the day embracing the sea air and making a difference!

Ocean Recovery

Did you know?

An area over 9 times the size of Wales is now in marine protected areas in the UK, but less than 1% is considered by the Marine Conservation Society scientists to be well managed.

The ocean is many things to many people – it’s a place of work, a home, a place of adventure, a tranquil escape. Beneath the surface it teems with life. Our corner of the ocean - the North East Atlantic is home to some of the most colourful, fascinating and beautiful marine life in the world.

We have one planet. One ocean covers over 70% of it. Perhaps because it’s so vast, we underestimate our ability to have an impact on it. But humans are having an impact and, unless we do what we can to make our ocean more resilient, its ability to sustain us will be compromised.

The Marine Conservation Society works with local communities, governments, marine managers and scientists, mainly in the UK and UK Overseas Territories, to ensure that our amazing ocean is well looked after and able to recover where it needs to. They actively seek opportunities to develop our understanding through research and choose to work collaboratively wherever they can. Together we can ensure that we have healthy and wealthy seas into the future.
