School's out - fun's in! Get ready for February Half Term...

February 05, 2020

Starting to feel like it’s time for a break? That’s because it is! (Yay!) February half term is the perfect time to shake off the last of the January blues and spend some quality time together as a family. We caught up with Fritha Quinn, one of our blogger friends, to see what she’s up to with her family this half term and get some inspiration for fun activities with the kids this half term.

"Now that my older child Wilf is in school, holidays like the half term break mean so much to us. It’s a chance to reconnect as a family without the rush of the school run, clubs and general life. We try and make sure we have something planned each day, even if it’s just a trip to our local park or a cake in a café.

I have some really strong memories of school holidays with my parents and siblings and I know that it doesn’t have to involve trips abroad or fancy getaways. Most of my favourite memories are just of hanging out, playing Lego or running around on family walks.

Our plans for this half term follow a similar pattern. One thing we always insist on is at least a short walk somewhere every day. Since I became a parent, I realised the importance of getting out and getting some fresh air for all of us. Getting outside and blowing the cobwebs away definitely helps with any crankiness we might be feeling. Just remember to always bring snacks!

Living in Bristol, we are lucky enough to have lots of options for things to do locally that are free or easily accessible. Our favourite place for an afternoon stroll is Ashton Court, I can also recommend any of the National Trust houses and gardens for a family friendly day out in the holidays. I think we might have a couple of ‘treat’ days this half term, like bowling or a trip to the cinema - but generally, just getting out the house together is the first step.

It’s really important to me that the clothes we choose for our children are both beautiful and practical. In fact, it’s actually my 8-year-old who will tell me which clothes he likes for how comfy they are. He loves FatFace jogging bottoms for this very reason. He’s also a huge fan of his baseball cap, he said he felt so cool wearing this one!

Wilf’s denim jacket is perfect for spring and for an active 8-year-old. I think it makes him feel quite grown up whilst it's absolutely been designed for his age range which is really important to me too.

My daughter Mabli was a huge fan of this cosy zip up jacket. She also chose some cuffed trousers which are so soft, I love that all FatFace’s kids’ clothes are designed for play and movability.

I absolutely love this dress... It’s perfect because I feel like I’m quite dressed up, but equally, it’s a great one to wear for running after the kids! I paired it with trainers but for a smarter look you could add some ankle boots. I layered it up with this supersoft cardigan which I’ve also been wearing with jeans and t-shirt."

Whatever you get up to this half term we hope it’s filled with special moments and lots of fun! Share your half term moments with us by tagging #fatfacemoments on Instagram.
