Our Inspiration: boutiques, coffee and everything yellow

April 03, 2018

We go all over (quite literally) to seek inspiration to design your clothes, and where better to find inspiration for our spring/summer ’19 range than Amsterdam, home to some of some of the coolest boutiques and shopping streets in the world.

A beautiful street scene of Amsterdam next to a river

Natasha, our women’s jersey and nightwear buyer and Mollie, designer of men’s and women’s trousers, recently hopped on a plane to the “flower shop of the world” to see what hidden gems they could discover. Here’s Natasha, to let us in on everything they got up to…

Shopping, treats and tired feet

“We stayed in Dam Square, which was a great central location perfect for shopping, as everywhere was really easy to get to. We decided to travel everywhere on foot, so we didn’t miss out on seeing anything. The hotel was near the beautiful Negen Straatjes (or 9 little streets in English). It dates back to the 19th century and is a quaint, picturesque canal-district featuring vintage and designer boutiques, plus loads of cosy cafes with amazing cakes and coffee. We were in heaven.

On the first day we stopped here for lunch, finding a great café called Ree7, situated on the Herengracht. The pictures don’t do justice just how delicious those cakes really were. We definitely recommend a visit here if you’re ever in the area.”

So much to see, so much to do

“We spent a lot of our time exploring this area, as it had loads of vintage shops with hidden gems that were really inspiring. We also walked to Haarlemmerstraat, which had loads of cool small boutiques with the most amazing finds. We won’t reveal what we found just yet though… you’ll just have to keep your eyes peeled next year!

Mellow yellow

“Although it was absolutely FREEZING when visited Amsterdam (minus 8 and two coats just to stay warm), spring was definitely in the air in everything we saw; yellow is THE colour right now. It was everywhere, from window displays, graphics tees, interiors, knitwear and even cheese packaging (which is a given, really!).

This got us thinking about our own range; we’ve got so many great yellow pieces out right now which are perfect for giving your spring wardrobe a bit of refresh. Here are just a few of our favourites…”

And there's so much more too. Check out the rest of our yellow products here to add a touch of spring to your wardrobe.
