National 4X Series - Round 1

Scott Beaumont - 1st

Hi all,

Just back from a great weekend, where I was racing at the first 4X national of the year at Chicksands, UK. With 200 riders entering the event, this was the biggest 4X race ever in the UK. The track at Chicksands is fast and flowing. A great venue to start at, as the track is really sandy, so any April showers will always dry up! As it was the track was wet at the start of the day from rain throughout Saturday night, but only 20 minutes into the practice session it had dried out!

In the elite category, we had 19 riders, so it was going to be a tough day. Racing started with 4 qualifying heat races. I felt good and went on to win every race. Onto the quarter final and another win, followed by one more in the semi final!

So I had made it into the final un-beaten, and I really wanted to keep that 100% record going in the last race of the day. My starts had been my advantage all day, and again in the final, I got my timing right and got into the lead early. From the first turn to the finish I rode smooth, hitting all my lines at full speed and pulled out a bit of lead on the chasing riders.

So I couldn't have asked for any more than a perfect '7 out of 7' start to my 2008 season!

My next race is this weekend, where the downhill bike will be in action at Ae Forest, Scotland for round 1 of the downhill national series. Keep an eye out here to find out how I get on.
