Great weekend for me down at Chicksands yesterday. It was round 3 of the national 4X series.
As ever there was a big turnout of riders at the ever popular venue. The track had a few changes from last time we raced here. A couple of jumps had grown in size and a couple of turns had changed, all in all it looked like it was going to make the racing better with more lines available for passing.
Racing started with 4 qualifying races (motos). I was definitely riding good and won each race. This moved me into the semi finals as the top seed from the motos and therefore gave me 1st pick of the gate for the semi final and final. Vitally important at Chicksands, as the track is really fast and a good start is crucial.
In the semi final I chose gate 1. The beeps sounded and gate dropped. I made my best gate of the day and got out in front. A quick whip for the crowd over the triple near the finish and I had booked my place in the final. Again in the final I went straight to gate 1. Lewis Lacey was in 2, Martin Ogden in 3 and Ian Hopkins was in gate 4. Again the beeps sounded on the random gate, and I snapped out of the gate. Another good start gave me the lead into turn 1. I got my head down and rode a perfect lap, hitting all my lines where I wanted to be and crossed the finish line to take my 2nd win of the season.
With the World Championships coming up this weekend, this race was really important to me, and to get a perfect result of 6 races and 6 wins adds a cherry on top!
The World Championships start this weekend in Val Di Sole, Italy. I fly out tomorrow and the 4X race is on Saturday night www.mtb-cut.tv and www.freecaster.tv will cover the race live Saturday night from 7pm. I will try to update my website during the week www.beaumontracing.com
