Why this sport?
I was good at a lot of sports growing up, but I got really hooked on waterskiing. It’s a great social sport where I have made a lot of friends. Skiing still gives me a bigger adrenalin rush than anything else I’ve ever done. I love being out on the water and when you’re competing it all comes down to you and the training you’ve put in.
How did you get into it?
Through my parents, they had a boat when I was young and taught me how to ski. I then went on to get some expert coaching which led me to entering my first tournament.
What next?
I’m looking forward to the season ahead, I picked up a bad injury last year which meant I could not compete at my best. Despite this I still placed 4th at the European Championships which I would like to better this year
Any other sports?
I love all sports but at the moment all my time and effort is put into skiing.
Favourite event and why?
It must be the Fat Face London International Night Jump. It is a fantastic event as well as a real spectacle. It attracts a massive crowd, who come to watch the World’s top athletes jumping in the pitch black and doing a bit of Barefoot and Wakeboarding. They also put on a great party.
Favourite place in the world?
I have been very lucky to have travelled to a lot of different places while skiing but one of my ambitions is to travel around the world until I find that favourite place. So I’ll have to reserve judgement for a while.
Training regime?
During the off season I use the gym 4 times a week combining weights and cardio. When I am training I will ski 3-4 times a day everyday and head to the gym 2-3 evenings a week.
What makes you good at your sport?
Dedication sprouting from a constant interest to better myself, discipline and self belief from a young age and I love doing what I do.
Advice to others wanting to get into the sport?
Wait until the summer or until it gets warm, its not much fun learning in the cold! Find somewhere to give it a go (there are loads of really good websites) and go try it out.
