Movement Skis, Bindings and Poles/Dragon Eyewear/Demon Body Armour and Gloves.
Why this sport?
Because setting off avalanches and falling off cliffs is quite exciting ha ha!
How did you get into it?
I transferred across from freestyle skiing to big mountain because it’s a lot more relaxed and enjoyable on the comp scene. Plus training involves going out and blasting through powder with friends which has got to be better than doing all those hard yards in the gym.
Where can I learn?
Verbier has got to be one of the best places in the world to get into freeskiing.
What equipment do I need to start me off?
Fat Skis and a helmet would be a cunning plan… not to mention all the important avalanche safety equipment!
Where can I get this from/who can I talk to?
Any good ski shop!
What next?
Back flip a large cliff. I am keen to further my confidence in the back country and to try and transfer my freestyle background into a natural environment. So it’s time to step it up and bust out I recon and see what happens hay!
Any other sports?
Most water sports are cool! I also attempt to paraglide and play a bit of golf over the summer. Also drinking beer with Swedish Girls in Verbier is a pretty good sport and past time I recon lol!
Favourite event/comp and why?
Red Bull Snowthrill. Was just an amazing experience going to Slovenia and the event and everything surrounding it was so relaxed and friendly with lots of cool people to hang out with.
Favourite place in the world?
I would love to go to Alaska one day that would be my dream!
Training regime?
Eat sleep and drink well and get stuck in to dry land training whenever possible.
What makes you good at your sport?
I don’t know really! Time and dedication spent working my ass off in the past 10 years really… coz I am certainly not a natural in the sport!
Advice to others wanting to get into the sport?
Step it up and give it a go if you’ve got the skiing experience and balls to do so!
Married, Single, kids? Tell all!
Single again unfortunately! So no kids that I know of anyway ha ha!
What is the hairiest situation you have found yourself in and how did you dig yourself out of it?
Setting off a huge avalanche on new years day… and luckily I did not need to get dug out!
