The newest extreme water sport, it combines almost all the experience I have with surfing to snowboarding - in fact with snowkiting I can honestly say we can kite pretty much anywhere! Having windsurfed since I was 7 it was only natural that when kiting came along I had to give it a go. The real beauty is how easy it is to pick up the basics and start getting the buzz, and very quickly I was addicted to yet another water sport!
Other sports?
I've always tried to give anything a go, especially on the water, so I've got a bit of experience in anything from yacht racing to surf kayaking! In the winter months when the days are way too short, I play a bit of footy to keep that competitive streak going till the weather warms up!
Training regime?
Just get on the water in some form or another as often as possible. Water sports all complement each other and general fitness is just as important as being able to pull off an individual move. If it ain't windy and there aren’t any waves then anything active, but I'm not a big fan of the gym!
What makes you good at your sport?
An all round knowledge of wind and surfing sports is an advantage. The new discipline of wavekiting is basically my dream sport, combining everything I love. You get the joy of surfing without the paddle out!
Married, Single, kids? Tell all!
I’m currently living with my long-suffering girlfriend Lucy, who's a very good photographer a mean wakeboarder and has always been way more patient than I deserve!
