Where can I learn? What equipment do I need to start me off? (Hardware, clothing etc) Where can I get this from / who can I talk to?
All you really need to get started is a board and a nice hill; alternatively you could go to a centre where for a fixed rate you will get lessons, boards, pads and a great place to ride. When you’re a beginner it’s always good to wear tough old clothes because you may well get pretty dirty. For the cheapest boards and pads get in touch with Downbeat Atb at downbeatskates@yahoo.co.uk leave your name, number and what you’re looking for and they will get back to you.
Good places in the UK to try out the sport.
England is one of the best places to ride in the world; there are more centers than any other country and endless terrain weighting to be explored. If I was to pick out one place to ride in the UK it would have to be South West Mountainboard Center, in north Devon, they will sort you out with everything you will need plus in my opinion it has the best jumps and track around.
Basic fitness level required at entry level for your sport (i.e. can swim 50 meters)
There isn’t really a fitness level that you need to be at to ride a board, anyone can do that but if you want to take it to the next level you’ve got to be pretty fit.
Events we should know about specific to your sport?
The Fat Face World Freestyle Champs at the South West Mountain Board Centre is the one to watch last year it went wild and this year should be even bigger and better.
