Fat Face Opening Princesshay, Exeter

Fat Face opening dates at Princesshay, Exeter

Fat Face, the UK’s leading active lifestyle brand, will be opening its doors at Princesshay in Exeter on Saturday 29th September.

The store will be brimming with interactive features and cutting edge designs so the company is delaying the opening to make absolutely certain that all these facets are in place before its grand opening.

To celebrate the launch of Fat Face’s largest ever store, the active lifestyle brand is putting on a huge, free community event, on Sunday 30th September at Belmont Park entitled ‘The Big Fat Day Out’, which will feature live music, climbing wall, sports simulators, bouncy castle, food tents, traditional fete games and some active, sporting personalities.

About the Store

Fat Face Princesshay will become the company’s first ‘lifestyle’ store within the largest retail development of its kind Exeter has ever seen.

At 6,600 square feet spread across three floors, it will be the largest of any of the 143 existing Fat Face stores, including the seven within its international portfolio. It will be a staggering five times larger than the existing Exeter store, currently located on Gandy Street.

What’s new?

The whole of the Fat Face range will be housed within this brand new colossal store –including all-year-round beach kit and technical gear. It will also be the launch pad for a whole range of licensed hardware, produced by some of the world’s top designers. An RS association dinghy, a Tushingham windsurf sail and board, MSB mountain boards and surfboards made by Newquay legend Bill Atlee will be available.

The concept

Everything within the Fat Face store breathes an ‘impression’ and is dripping in the ‘wow’ factor: from the cash desk, built entirely out of travel books, to the ‘The Team Rider Eye’ virtual reality pod. Here you can be catapulted down a mountain, or jump into a scintillating snowboarding stunt! The footage is courtesy of material collected from headcams worn by the Team Riders; Fat Face’s elite group of sponsored sporting heroes from BASE jumpers to extreme windsurfers.

The ground floor will include a full-size dinghy, the mast built through the central core of the staircase and poking up into the first floor. As you ascend, you are hit with an evolving sensory experience; sounds of the waves against the boat, the halyard banging on the mast, and, as you climb, the sounds of seabirds overhead.

We’ve got the kit; now what?

For the first time ever in a Fat Face store, the there will be a ‘community’/ café area. Fat Face is also big on making the store a ‘one stop shop’ for all active enthusiasts and is linking up with Fat Face holiday partners: PGL, Neilson, Errant surfing holidays and Ski Esprit.

Closer to home, Fat Face has been collecting all the best places for adventurers to pursue their chosen activity and a wall has been dedicated to flag potential hotspots, with the information exchange set to evolve on a daily basis.

“The idea is that contributors will be a part of the DNA of the store. It’s about them,” continues Sarah Baskcomb. “They’ll be able to buy the kit, the clothes to wear and now will be armed with where to do it all!”
