Last week the Fat Face Team headed out to the first round of the Fat Face RS Eurocup on Lake Garda in Italy. Over 200 boats made their way over the mountainous terrain to set up camp on the beautiful shores of Riva del Garda.
The Fat Face RS Eurocup is made up of a series of events across Europe which covers all of the RS dinghy classes. This is a fantastic opportunity for sailors of all levels to enjoy travelling to both exotic and challenging locations, soak up some of the local culture and party hard with friends!
The week was a massive success. Although the renowned ‘Ora’ wind did not build up to it’s usual breezy strength, the fleets enjoyed some great champagne sailing conditions with the sun shining all week. The competition was tough out on the water though with the RS 800’s enjoying a massive turn out of over 70 boats including Fat Face Team Riders Justin Deal and Ollie Page who finished a very impressive 4th overall. The RS 200’s also had a great turn out of 60 boats but all of the fleets enjoyed some great racing and competition.
The competition was continued off the water too with many competitors heading to the Yachting Bar for free drinks in the evening and then onto the Orcca bar to see who could drink the most Mojitos!
The end of the week was celebrated in style with an enormous prize giving. The top sailors of each class took to the podium to receive their medals and Fat Face vouchers and in the larger fleets, Silver and Bronze division winners were also awarded prizes.
